LSI is a tight knit company where everyone wants to see one another succeed. They are a company that holds a strong family oriented bond with each employee. While I have been employed at the company, I have had the opportunity to experience how they treat every employee for special occasions such as birthdays and achievements that they were able to accomplish. During the day each employee would receive an invitation to the break room to either celebrate a birthday or to have a social gathering where there is usually food for everyone in the break room. This gives an opportunity for the company employees to get to know everyone and gives everyone a chance to know who they work with. The CEO of the company, Sean Slatter, invited the whole company out for a day to go golf and have a barbeque up in Park City. For those that could not attend he was even willing to give the rest of the office a day off.
Throughout the company there are different contracts that everyone is responsible for. The team that I am a part of is working on the Minute Man III project. I cannot disclose any specifics of what we work on or how we do anything because we are on a need to know clearance.
I feel that after this whole internship experience I have gained a lot of valuable information. I learned much about what I can accomplish with the right instruction and feedback. This internship will definitely open doors for me in the future because I am working for a respected business and I have shown my work ethic to my supervisor and project manager. I have received feedback on a weekly and daily basis that indicates that they feel that I am a valuable member of the team. It has also provided a great opportunity to actually work in a group with my other colleagues when we needed to brainstorm on certain tasks and collaborate for different product outcomes and this something that I can carry over to any career or situation.
My plans for after I have completed this internship are unclear right because my internship does not end until the end of August and it is still unknown if I will be a part of the team afterwards. I am applying to other jobs in a more business-related field but nothing is final or set in stone just quite yet. I appreciate that I have had the opportunity for the work I completed over this past summer because I have grown from being just a student to a professional in a working environment and that is something that I am really enjoying.
